Reasons Why You Should File a Mesothelioma Claim or Lawsuit
In Texas, you have a limited amount of time to file a legal claim against a defendant for a personal injury. In asbestos cases, this is two years from when you discovered you had mesothelioma. Time can go by quickly, and your legal advocate will need some time to prepare your claim before filing an official complaint, so you do not have much time to spare.
If your claim or lawsuit is successful, you can possibly receive compensation to help with the financial aspects of a mesothelioma claim, such as reimbursement and wage replacement. Additionally, filing a legal claim is the only way to hold asbestos companies responsible for their negligent and reckless actions. In many situations, many asbestos companies were aware of the dangers of their products and failed to take steps to protect workers and other from their harm.

Example Mesothelioma Verdicts and Awards in Corpus Christi
In 1999, news reports show a group of plaintiffs represented by an unaffiliated law firm filed a lawsuit against North American Refractories Company and 23 other defendants, alleging that their products caused injury to them and their spouses. NARCO was the only company that had not settled prior to trial. The jury found that the plaintiffs had been exposed to asbestos from its products and that this exposure was a proximate cause of their injuries. The jury awarded a very huge sum of money in compensatory damages and another large amount in punitive damages. The case was appealed to the Corpus Christi Court of Appeals and was upheld.
In another 1999 case reported in the news, the plaintiff represented by an unaffiliated law firm received an enormous sum for damages under the Texas Wrongful Death and Survival Statute. The case was based on the asbestos exposure a former Navy worker sustained on the job. The Navy used a product that contained asbestos in it. The man was diagnosed with mesothelioma in 1994. He later died from the disease and his wife pursued a wrongful death action. The case was appealed to the Corpus Christi Court of Appeals and was upheld.
