Centennial Colorado Military Bases and VA Treatment

The Colorado National Guard Headquarters is located in Centennial, Colorado. Buckley Air Force Base is less than 30 minutes away.

Veterans make up approximately one-third of all mesothelioma cases. Asbestos was commonly used in a variety of applications, including in the construction of bases. While asbestos is no longer used in the military, it is still present in many places where National Guard members serve. Asbestos is a fire-resistant, durable and affordable material that was mixed with a number of other materials. National Guard workers could also be exposed to asbestos due to their deployment in areas where asbestos is more prevalent. For example, the National Guard deployed 50,000 troops to the Hurricane Katrina area in 2005. They helped with rescue missions and went into damaged homes that may have had dislodged asbestos in them. Additionally, troops may be deployed to other countries where asbestos is used. When buildings are demolished or exploded, these troops may breathe in dangerous asbestos fibers.

Veterans may seek treatment from the Aurora Outpatient Clinic. This facility provides primary care services, personal care, laboratory services and prescription services.

Asbestos in Talc Powder Cases and Centennial Colorado

The women alleged that their ovarian cancer and other medical issues were caused by talc powder produced by the company. The women allege that the company knew that the talc powder contained asbestos in it. A Centennial woman who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2017 filed a similar lawsuit, joining 9,00 other claimants across the country who have sued the company based on similar allegations.
