Sacramento, California is home to an Army Depot, MEPS and the B.T. Collins U.S. Army Reserve Center. However, the most prominent military involvement it had was the McClellan Air Force Base. This base was active between 1935 and 2001. It was originally used by the Air Force Materiel Command as a maintenance facility for aircraft, vehicles and military equipment. It also served as a logistics center. The United States Coast Guard also operated out of the facility.
