Miami Florida Mesothelioma Lawsuits

Miami has been a venue that has provided several multi-million-dollar verdicts to individuals with mesothelioma and their family. Notable cases include:

  • A jury in 2017 ordered a seven-figure award to a woman who had been married to a man for nearly 50 years who worked at a chemical plant where he was exposed to asbestos. He developed mesothelioma and died from it.
  • In another 2017, the jury rendered a verdict in favor of the plaintiff’s family. The plaintiff worked as an employee-benefits advisor who visited several commercial and industrial sites to sign workers up for benefits. He breathed in asbestos fibers during these visits, according to his testimony. The plaintiff died from mesothelioma before the case was finished. His family received the bulk of the award and his estate received payment for medical expenses.
  • In 2015, a Florida state court jury made a sizable decision against Georgia Pacific after finding that it was responsible for a construction worker developing mesothelioma because of asbestos found in the company’s joint compound.
  • In 2014, a Miami-Dade jury ruled against Florida Power & Light Co. and in favor of the widow of a former boilermaker at numerous FPL sites where he was exposed to asbestos. He died from asbestosis at age 88.
  • A jury in 2008 delivered a large verdict against Union Carbide, finding it responsible for the plaintiff’s peritoneal mesothelioma.
  • In 2007, an eight-figure award was granted to a plaintiff who developed pleural mesothelioma from asbestos exposure.
