Baltimore Maryland Mesothelioma Lawsuits and Asbestos Litigation
Baltimore is home to some of the largest asbestos verdicts in the state. In 2001, a Baltimore circuit jury handed down a $40 million to five asbestos verdicts after the plaintiffs alleged that the manufacturers of asbestos products, Harbison-Walker Refractories, A.P. Green Industries Inc. and Armstrong Contracting and Supply knew about the dangers of their products but failed to take any measure to protect workers. Another Baltimore City Circuit Court jury awarded $2.4 million in 2011 in an asbestos case in which the sons and estate of a deceased forklift driver who had to unload bags of raw asbestos for six years as part of his job against Union Carbide, which sold the asbestos to his employer. A Baltimore jury awarded more than $8 million to the family of a former automobile mechanic who died from mesothelioma who worked at Foreign Motors for nearly four decades and routinely worked with brakes and clutches that contained asbestos and were manufactured by Ford Motor Co. In 2008, a jury awarded $15.3 million to a 73-year-old man who developed cancer after working at a South Baltimore shipyard in the 1950s.
