Asbestos and Mesothelioma Lawsuits in Lincoln Nebraska

In 2007, a widow filed a mesothelioma case after her husband died from the disease due to workplace exposure to asbestos. Her husband worked at DeMarco Brothers Company for over 25 years until 1980. He completed various construction and remodeling projects at multiple job sites where he was exposed to asbestos. The widow received $113,000 for reimbursement for the treatment he had received and other expenses.

In 2012, a group of former railroad workers and a widow of a former railroad worker filed a lawsuit against BNSF Railway. Four of them claimed they were exposed to asbestos while working as freight and passenger carmen in Omaha and in Lincoln shops. One served as a boilermaker. The last of the six claimants was a blacksmith. One of them died from asbestos-related colon cancer in 2010 while the others developed asbestos-related lung disease. They alleged that the railway’s operations in Lincoln negligently exposed workers to asbestos. The outcome of the case is unknown.
