Commissioned in 1950,  the Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line is a natural gas pipeline with a length of ten thousand five hundred miles, that transports natural gas from the Gulf Coast of Texas, Louisiana, Mississipi and Alabama, through Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania to deliver gas to the New Jersey and New York City areas. This pipeline conducts tests of soil and groundwater contamination near its compressor stations.

  • An operator reported a pipeline rupture with a fire on the water, within two hours the company confirmed it was it was their pipeline and had all the operations shut down, no injuries or pollution were reported.
  • Around one hundred and thirty individuals were evacuated from their homes after a twenty four inch pipeline ruptured in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. No injuries or property damage were reported, also there was no report of fires or pollution. The pipeline was installed in 1963.
  • Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Company reported a leak on their 72nd Street Interstate Transmission Lateral, located in North Bergen, New Jersey. Workers discovered a in rock contact with the bottom of the pipe. Upon removing the rock, the pipe began to leak, there were no fire, injuries, property damage or pollution reported from this incident.
