Fort Stewart Army Base is located near Savannah. It is comprised of more than 280,000 acres, making it the largest military installation in the Eastern United States. Every year, it trains more than 50,000 reservists. This base was established during World War II when it housed 2,705 military officers and approximately 37,000 enlisted soldiers. It served an active role during World War II, the Korean War, the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War.
