Johns-Manville Corporation and Mesothelioma Lawsuits

Johns-Manville is one of the most synonymous names associated with asbestos exposure. This corporation began in 1901 after two large asbestos manufacturers merged. Over time, the company developed a huge range of asbestos-containing products, including asbestos paper, pipe covering and floor tiles. Navy vessels often included gaskets and insulating materials that were manufactured by the company. The company’s Waukegan site included 150 acres, which was often used to dispose of asbestos for many years until the company stopped operations in the 1990s. The Environmental Protection Agency began making remediation efforts in 1982 after it discovered dangerous levels of asbestos in the air, soil and groundwater on the site.
