Albuquerque New Mexico Veterans with Mesothelioma

Albuquerque is home to the Kirtland Air Force Base, which is the city’s largest employer. The base was constructed in 1941 near an existing airport. It is the largest military installation in the Materiel Command. It was initially established as a training facility for military troops. More than 5,000 bombardiers were trained during World War II at this site. The base is now home to the 377th Air Base Wing and the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center. Approximately 30 mission partners are temporarily hosted on the base. The base hosts more than 23,000 individuals, which includes active military troops, reserve part time members, National Guard members, civilians and family members.

Many military bases have been linked to asbestos use. Products that contained asbestos in Air Fore bases and other military installations included paint, plumbing insulators, piping and sealants.
