The Pascagoila Refinery is Chevron’s largest refinery and one of the top producing refineries in the United States.  Located in Jackson County east if the city of Pascagoula, the refinery takes up two-thirds of 3000 acres in the Bayou Casotte Industrial Park next to the Mississippi Sound.

2018 Information about Chevron and it’s Pascagoula Mississippi Refinery

Chevron’s products are estimated to be sold in close to 8,000 Chevron and Texaco retail stations in the U.S. in addition to being a leading provider of aviation fuel in the country.  There are four refineries which have the capacity to produce 919,000 barrels per day:

Pascagoula, Mississippi
Richmond and El Segundo, California
North Salt Lake, Utah

The Pascagoula refinery was a 1.4 billion dollar project which began operation in July 2014 and employs 1,583 people directly along side 2500 contractors.  The refinery produces nearly 330,000 barrels of crude oil per day and 5.7 million gallons of gasoline per day.

Accidents, Serious Injuries, and Death’s at the Chevron Pascagoula Refinery

October 16, 2018 – A contractor employed with Performance Contractors Inc., fell from a elevated structure around 7:30pm. Chevron’s emergency responders called an ambulance and offered aid on the scene however the contractor died from his inures.

February 21, 2018 – 1000 pounds of nitrogen oxide was released into the air after normal routine processing startup units at the refinery.

November 15, 2013 – One of Chevron’s employees was killed in a fire that broke out in the unit known as Cracking II area.  The fire was started by the furnace in a gasoline making unit and it was reported there was some maintenance work before the fire.
